Tax Credits & Land Purchase 2010 

For the last 35 years, Copper Cannon Camp has been renting 128 acres of land from the town of Franconia.  Two years ago, Copper Cannon approached the Franconia Selectmen to discuss a long-term lease of the property.  At that meeting Copper Cannon was informed the town would consider selling the land and a decision was made by the Board of Directors to purchase it.  The financing of this purchase is made possible through the sale of Community Development Finance Authority Tax Credits.

Through the sale of CDFA Tax Credits, Copper Cannon will continue building future leaders in its summer camp program and making a difference in the lives of New Hampshire's low-income youth and families.

Attendance at Copper Cannon Outdoor Education Center is completely free for the campers. In order to support the campers, we have quite a bit of money to raise each year, and we are fortunate to have many generous donors. Our Board of Trustees is active and involved in all fundraising for Copper Cannon.

The budget for fiscal year 2009-2010 is over $200,000.00.

We have four main fundraising activities each year. Our Annual Auction, Membership Drive, Raffle, and Sponsor-A-Kid Program raise approximately 60% of the funds needed to operate Copper Cannon each year. Hundreds of individuals and businesses in New Hampshire are involved in these programs.

Copper Cannon is the state project for the New Hampshire State Elks, who support us with approximately 10% of our required income each year.

Foundation grants provide us with approximately 15% of needed income.

The balance of our income comes from dividends, state food subsidy, and other miscellaneous donations.

The Copper Cannon Endowment Fund is managed by the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation. We continue to try to raise endowment funds to ensure the strength of Copper Cannon in the future.
