Copper Cannon Alumni… are you one? It has been almost 50 years since the first camper was invited to Copper Cannon Camp. Since then, over 14,000 children have experienced Ham Ford's vision. For many, the memories are burning bright and the camp songs ringing in their ears. Our goal is to start to reconnect with those campers and the staff who made a difference in the lives of the children. We want to share the stories of Copper Cannon, the impact it has had on different individuals, and reinstall that camp magic.
With the help of our alumni, Copper Cannon Camp will be able to continue providing a free summer camp experience for New Hampshire youth.
Copper Cannon Alumni come in different varieties. It is not just campers who are changed by their summer camp experience here. The staff are affected to an equal if not greater extent because we spend an entire summer here; living, working and playing at camp. We learn from each other as well as from our campers. We form friendships and memories that will last a lifetime and gain a wealth of experience in new situations which will help us significantly in our everyday lives after camp has finished. I have worked at Copper Cannon for 2 summers and am about to embark on my third. I have watched the kids grow over this time and I have grown with them. People back home in England don't understand the songs, the skits and the joy of sleeping under the stars with a belly full of smores and foil dinner. Even when I have to get a 'real' job and can't come back to camp I'll still stay in touch with the people and the organization that have given me so much. We understand, so stay in touch!
